DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to make a horror flick. I don't recall the actual moment I made this realization, but I do recall the emotions I felt while watching JAWS for the very first time. The scene where the eye pops out of the boater's eye socket under water still remains vivid in my mind. The concept of taking something familiar to us, like enjoying sailing and boating, and using our everyday connections with it to ultimately terrify us is absolutely brilliant.

George A. Romero's DEAD series, especially NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, has forever left its impression in cinematic history. There is something pure about the film. I love its raw atmosphere. I thought, wouldn't it be interesting to make a zombie flick that had the same scary element of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and could somehow do what JAWS did by developing a plot that is very plausible?

With ZOMBIE PLAGUE I wanted to paint a very scary, disturbing picture on the screen. I wanted to be able to keep the audience emotionally involved with the main characters. Keep them on the edge of their seats: one hand in the popcorn bucket and the other grasping it as if the monsters on screen might snatch it from their grip at any moment.

I wanted to address our collective everyday fear of being vulnerable to another terrorist attack. I wanted to communicate to the audience in a very personal way. Thrilling them with each dangerous situation the characters faced. And...scare the shit out of them!

Most importantly...I wanted to have a shit load of fun and make a fun, gory zombie flick.
